Sangiovese is an Italian variety that is the backbone for many wine styles including Chianti Classico. We find our Sangiovese vines tend to crop generously and requires fruit thinning to ensure the grapes are well ripened in a favourable year. When it all comes together we release the wine under the Three Hills label at cellar door. The typcially savoury flavours of this variety pair well with Mediterranean dishes.
AROMA: An attractive aroma of cherry, black olive, red fruit, truffle and beetroot, with a note of eucalyptus, dried herb and cedary oak.
PALATE: A medium weight wine which displays both sweet fruit and savoury flavours. Sour cherry, red fruit and black olive are most prominent with notes of bitter chocolate, spice and mint. The palate is defined by powerful mouth coating tannins that are fine and leathery and provide a long drying finish.
