Wine: Our 2014 Petit Verdot is made from 15 year old vines we planted as a family on our estate block. Petit Verdot is a Bordelaise variety, which is used to add length, tannin and colour to cabernet.
In the Swan Valley with our unique warm climate, we are able to ripen the fruit to its ripest physiological potential. Petit Verdot always exhibits amazing concentration in fruit and has a unique perfumed, violet and ripe red berry aromatics. Vinification: The 2014 vintage has resulted in a wine of ultra complexity and wine of immense concentration. As is the case with all our reds, our Petit Verdot is handpicked and the bunches hand selected for ripeness. We de-stemmed the berries from their bunches and fermented them with 10% whole bunches in the ferment in open top fermenters. The 2014 vintage has resulted in a wine of ultra complexity and wine of great concentration. Tasting Notes: Typical of Swan Valley Petit Verdot this wine exudes floral notes of elderflower, Violets and lifted sweet spices of cinnamon and star anise. The fruit spectrum of this wine is extremely vast ranging from stewed plums to fresh blue berries and as a robust and plush wine it edges towards a harmonised but pronounced tannin structure, which the variety is famed for.
Food Pairing: Will pair extremely well with red meat dishes, in particular grass fed dry aged beef
